官湖村属城郊，距县城关约2.5千米，村内有七星溪流过。[2]
村子旧称官凤。今名的缘由是七星溪绕村流过，在村内形成一片湖状的肥沃滩涂；村旁又有古时通往建宁府的官道。[1]
1984年改设官湖行政村。[1]
本村于2019年12月列入第二批「国家森林乡村」，该批名单由国家林业和草原局公布。2020年12月，村入选「2019年度福建省“一村一品”示范村」，主导产品为香葱。[1]
乾清坤宁宝塔原在村东南，七星塔位于村内佛子山塔山公园，两者均为县级文物保护单位。[1]
