下坑村位于大历镇西南部，距镇政府约5公里，村中的大坪自然村是畲族聚居的山村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历是村落紧靠溪流下游山边的一处小山坑。[1]

村落的建立可上溯到清代。1959年组建下坑大队，1984年起改称下坑村民委员会，归大历乡管辖；到1993年撤乡设镇时，本村转入大历镇。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

村域总面积13.5平方千米，辖6个村民小组。省道204线穿越主村，村前大片农田称为下坑洋。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网，2011年末村辖区总人口1035人，其中汉族859人，畲族176人。[2]

经济[edit]

2011年末，村内有一家竹木加工厂。村前的下坑洋农田每年夏季种植的太空莲成片开放。[2]
