墩头村是麻沙镇下辖的革命老区基点村，位于建阳市西南部，距镇政府20.5公里[1][2]。村名的来历：原有重阳墩、石水墩、凉伞墩、猪母墩等土墩，村子位于这些墩的头部[2]。

全村共6个自然村、10个村民小组；人口1342人，计286户[2]。村落距省道水杉线4.5公里，村中道路均为水泥路面[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

民国初，墩头属界首村的墩头保。1942年，省委驻地设在墩头村的密溪与白马印一带[2]。

解放后归麻沙区，设墩头乡；1958年，墩头被纳入麻沙公社。1961年改隶界首公社，1963年又回到麻沙公社，仍称墩头大队；1984年改设墩头村村民委员会[2]。

物产[edit]

村民以优质稻谷、烤烟、食用菌为主业。村中森林资源丰富，出产毛竹、竹笋与林产品，盛产天然红菇，也有珍贵的红豆杉[2]。
