村名的来历：由下格、小官田两处地名取首尾各一字合成「下田」。[1]

1943年为下田保，解放前改设下田乡。1958年组成下田大队，1984年改为村委会。[1]

2002年，良村乡撤销，区域并入华丰镇。[1]
