下湖村是樟塘镇下辖的行政村，三面环山，毗邻县经济技术开发区，距西埔约3公里。村名取自地势低洼、湖在村下。[1][2]

地名[edit]

村子地势低，三面临湖，湖位于村庄下方，故名下湖，村中也称霞湖。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代村址属诏安县五都三图的康罗保，名霞湖村。1910年（清宣统二年）它仍属诏安县，并归东山自治区中区管辖；1916年东山设县后，改划为二区。民国二十九年（1940年）隶属东山县中兴镇霞湖保。[1][2]

建国后，此地划入三区，编为南湖乡的一部分，与霞湖、南山、西港、岭下同属。1957年改为樟塘乡霞湖乡；1959年属康美公社，设下湖大队；1961年改属樟塘公社下湖大队；1984年成为樟塘乡下湖村，1993年为樟塘镇下湖村。[1][2]

人文[edit]

祖先于明代万历年间迁到下湖居住，由此建村。村中有古榕树10株。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，下湖村获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

2010至2012年度，下湖村被县里评为「创建创先争优活动先进基层党组织」，又是县内「一镇一品树典型」及「宣传思想工作」示范村。[2]
