地名与历史沿革[edit]
因村委会设在梅东村办公，故以此得名。[1]
早年此地归奇湖镇管辖，1950年后一度归第四区与四都区。1958年起，它先后隶属太阳升人民公社、梅洲公社与四都公社，1984年11月划为四都镇下的村，2000年起归梅洲乡。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
以2012年公安户口计，全村共665户，2602人，分为10个村民小组。[2]
村里利用林竹地和水源条件，发展畜禽养殖和水产放养，近年又鼓励兴办手工业厂。[2]2011年，村民人均收入将近8000元。[2]
