西林村是古雷镇最北端的行政村，位于古雷半岛西侧，北面与杜浔镇北坂村相接，南面与港口村为邻。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来由是：林姓居民聚居在古雷半岛西侧，故称西林。民国时期这里隶属杜浔的西林保，新中国成立初期则归杜浔区北坂一带管辖。[1]

1958年起，村子属杜浔公社下设的古雷管理区，西林大队即在其中；1961年7月起改隸古雷公社。1984年划入古雷乡，1992年古雷乡改为镇，村名仍为西林村。[1]

地理环境[edit]

东面是浮头湾，西面是东山湾，旧杜古线公路横穿村落。境内浅海滩涂原以养殖翡翠贻为主，后改为吊养牡蛎；耕地中水田少，农地居多，种植番薯、花生以及芦笋、葱蒜等蔬菜。[1]
