梅东村是石榴镇下辖的行政村，位于镇东南部平原地带，距镇区约5公里，东邻绥安镇马坑村，北邻梅北村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代属在坊的梅林保。民国时期起初隶属石梅乡，民国29年（1940年）改归绥安镇。新中国初期编入第二区的梅林乡；1958年9月划为石榴公社梅林管理区，同年为梅林大队。1961年7月管理区撤销，此处另立梅东大队。1984年设立梅东村委会，延续至今。[1]

自然村与姓氏[edit]

村辖梅园路、草湖尾、楼仔边、埔顶角、后埔，共5个自然村。明初陈姓入居梅林，此后成为村中重要姓氏；村中另有少数吴、范、黄、李、胡等姓。[1]

古迹与风俗[edit]

梅林庵祀佛，据旧县志记载，为南宋淳熙年间驿路旁的十二座庵之一，今庵尚存。双溪坝是明代崇祯年间修建的水利设施，遗迹尚存。[1]

村中有王公庙，祀开漳圣王陈元光；陈氏祖祠为梅林陈姓的总祖祠。每逢农历正月，村民迎请开漳圣王来村，在廿九或三十日为其庆寿。[1]
