山前村位于霞美镇东北部，东侧濒旧镇港，隔港与旧镇镇的铳城山遥望，西邻过田村，北接旧镇镇后埭村，南接刘坂村。村子在徐厝山（又称薛厝山）前方开基立社，因而得名山前[1]。

沿革[edit]

清代属七都山前保，民国时期属霞美乡山前保。新中国初期为第四区旧镇区的山前乡，1955年2月并入刘坂乡。1958年9月设山前大队，属旧镇公社刘坂管理区；1961年7月改隶霞美公社。1984年称霞美乡山前村，1990年随乡改镇。[1]
