保安村位于赤湖镇境内，村名取自附近旧时一座名为“保安院”的佛寺。[1]

据博雅地名网所载，村中许姓于元代开基。福建省农业农村厅认定保安村为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」，时间为2022年10月。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

保安的许姓出自开漳圣王陈元光的副将许天正一系，其后裔许贵于元代开基保安。[2]

明代，此地为十五都保安里，清初称保安保，康熙三十九年改称宝安保。民国时属金塘乡的保安保。新中国初期设保安乡，1955年12月并入南峰乡，1958年9月成立保安大队，1984年改为保安村委会。[2]
