下田村是白水镇的行政村，与磁美、大下、庄林、下辽等村相邻。村名由下美社与田厝社合办农业社时各取一字而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期此地分属漳浦县官浔镇的磁美、山边两保，1952年分归第三区的磁美乡与山边乡，1957年划入海澄县。[3]

1959年归浮宫公社，设下田大队；1960年划为龙海县白水公社的下田大队。1984年起称下田村，1993年龙海改市后，村委会名称改为龙海市白水镇下田村委会。[3]

经济[edit]

村民以养殖白对虾为主，外出务工的人口占全村一半以上。[1]
