方田村是白水镇的行政村，位于镇域内，与崎岎、山美、金鳌等村相邻。村名的由来是原来的村庄建在一片四方形的农田之中。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1947年前属海澄县白水镇的方田保。1951年初，方田与寨内两地合为一村，仍归白水镇。此后数度改属，其间曾设白水区方田乡。[3]

1956年归城关区白水镇，1959年改属浮宫公社；1960年并入龙海县，成为白水公社的方田大队。1984年以后称白水镇方田村委会，1993年龙海改市，村委会仍属龙海市白水镇。[3]

经济[edit]

村里的果蔬产品以杨梅、龙眼、荔枝、莲雾、芒果为主，并产大白菜、枇杷等。村域内蕴藏钛铁矿、方解石和胆矾等矿物。[1]
