眉山乡位于福建省泉州市南安市西北部，是一个山区乡，乡域东邻金淘镇，南侧是美林街道与仑苍镇，西接安溪县，北靠诗山镇。[1][2]

乡名的来历有三说：博雅地名网记一说取大眉、小眉两村名中的“眉”字，与山腰、山后两村名中的“山”字合成，另一说取自大眉山，此山又名大帽山；维基百科则说山区地形如眉，故名。[3][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代，此地先后隶属怀德乡清风里和金鸡乡仁德里；元明清时则划入十三都、二十四都与二十五都。[4]

民国年间设眉山乡。博雅地名网在观音村的一页中记为1941年置眉山乡，百度百科则称1984年改为眉山乡，两说并存。[2][4][5]

新中国成立后仍用眉山乡之名，归第五区管辖。1958年公社化期间划入五星人民公社；1961年，金淘区下设眉山、凌云两个小公社。1965年分为六个大队，归金淘公社统辖。[4]1972年，眉山自金淘公社独立，建为眉山人民公社；1984年改为眉山乡人民政府。[4]

近年荣誉有：2011年4月，环境保护部授予眉山乡「2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号；2020年12月，眉山乡经福建省爱卫办命名，获「福建省卫生乡镇」称号；2021年2月，眉山乡列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[4]

眉山乡地处南安市西北隅的山区，东西长约17千米，南北宽约3.5千米，地形自西向东倾斜，平均海拔560米。[1]

经济[edit]

乡内多山地，水稻、甘薯是主要农作物，山地上种有铁观音等茶树，也产龙眼。[6][7][11]

乡内古迹分布在各村：观山村有观山李氏民居，高田村有凌云叶氏家庙和云山寺，小眉村有龙泉寺旧址，观音村有观音院遗址，外寨村有外寨霞美桥，各见本村条目。[8][9][10][11][12][13]
