新明村属罗东镇，在镇政府所在地南面约0.3公里的地方[2]。1950年前后，村里革除旧习、面貌一新，村名由此而来，沿用至今[2]。2022年12月，福建省爱卫会授予新明村「2022年福建省卫生村」称号[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年人民公社时，这里称新明大队；1984年成立罗东乡新明村委会，1988年村委会改由罗东镇管辖[2]。2011年7月1日，村址迁往新址[2]。
