地名由来[edit]
相传南宋景炎元年（1276年），东石寨总兵率军民在岱峰山麓挖掘两条长壕以阻挡元兵，村旧称双沟。后蔡、陈两姓迁入，填壕为田，遂称平坑。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
村落面积1.2平方千米，设12个村民小组，总人口2094人。[1]
村民以废次钢材经营为主，另有汽配、雨伞、废铁回收、机械零件加工等企业近40家。[1]
