湖头村在磁灶镇西部，距镇区约2公里，南与锦美村相接。北面有陶东路东西向穿过[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

唐代时，潘胡一带环湖百余里，湖面向西南延伸到古陵头，村因此得名湖头[1][2]。元朝时属晋江县二都。湖头原属五龙村管辖[1]。

人口民族[edit]

村中以张、林、柯、吴四姓为主，四姓后裔也有远迁香港、澳门、台湾和菲律宾的[2][3]。

经济[edit]

村里立足本地资源，发展养殖业，并在传统产业的基础上推进第三产业。「福建省印刷包装产业（晋江）基地」与陶东路一道，为村子带来了新的机遇[1][2]。

文化[edit]

村中有一座建于20世纪90年代的湖头小学[1]。
