平原村位于西坪镇中南部，地处大宝山与内灶尖之间，距镇区约19千米。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村旧时别称产地、培田。1954年，晋江专区一位专员巡视至此，见地势平坦、状如小盆，遂定名平原。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

古代此地分属崇信里的产地乡与培田乡。1949年划入崇新区。1958年编入西坪人民公社，称平原大队。1984年设村民委员会，1992年8月改称西坪镇平原村委会。[1][2]

名胜[edit]

映宝楼位于本村培田角落，是安溪土楼的组成部分之一，与聚斯楼、南岩泰山楼同属一组文物。[3]

2022年1月，本村被认定为「安溪县2020-2021年度文明村镇」。[1]
