湖头镇在安溪县东北部，镇域四面环山，中间是沙谷盆地。李光地是清朝文渊阁大学士，他的故里便在这片土地上；镇中如今仍有李氏的故居和祠堂，湖头米粉亦在此地制作。^[2]^[5]

1980年8月，镇区由原湖头公社的湖头街居委会与邻近生产大队组建而成，此后曾改为乡，1987年又改回镇。镇内有泰山岩等名胜，是安溪县北部的中心城镇。^[2]^[6]

宋代此地分属修仁乡的感化里与来苏里，明清时期仍属感化里和来苏里。^[6]

湖头人民公社于1958年10月设立；此后1961年曾设湖头区，1965年撤区，改设湖头公社。1980年8月，湖头镇组建；公社于1984年4月转为乡建制，到1987年6月乡被撤销，村庄划归镇。^[4]^[6]

据记载，明朝正统年间有人捐出银两，把清溪渊港的巨石凿开，于是货船能从湖头一路开到泉州入海，街市由此兴旺。湖头街在明万历八年（1580年）到清乾隆二十二年（1757年）之间，有22人考中进士；李光地家族四代出过十名进士和七名翰林。^[2]

镇域面积101.2平方千米，2019年末户籍人口93075人，镇政府驻湖美路46号。^[1]^[3]^[4]

湖头镇四面环山，中部地势平坦，海拔大多在150米以下。晋江支流蓝溪从中部流过，境内另有芦内溪、福寿溪。气候属亚热带季风气候。^[2]

文化[edit]

湖头米粉是地理标志产品，2009年10月11日由原国家质监总局批准实施地理标志产品保护。据百度百科，康熙二十一年（1682年），李光地把米粉当作贡品呈给朝廷。^[10]

镇内的其他特产包括鸡卷与养脾散。^[1]

慈山分院属泉州经贸职业技术学院，设于本镇。^[5]

名胜古迹[edit]

李光地故居又称新衙或昌佑堂，1698年（康熙三十七年）始建，是李光地的府第，由新衙、旧衙与贤良祠等建筑组成。2013年，故居定为全国重点文物保护单位。^[2]^[7]

湖头贤良祠位于安溪第三中学校内，始建于1685年（清康熙二十四年），原名榕村书屋；1733年（雍正十一年）为表彰李光地改称今名。1991年，它成为第三批省级文物，之后又晋级为全国重点文物。^[5]^[8]

泰山岩全称「显应普济大祖师岩泰山寺」，位于前山村南部的大尖山。在安溪的三座历史名岩中它位列其一，也属湖头十景之一。南宋绍兴年间（1134年）已有寺宇；经李光地于康熙二十二年（1683年）重建，才改称泰山岩；2004年又重建。^[2]^[9]

据县政府网站，全镇有国保级文物保护单位1处4点，省级文物保护单位2处9点，省级涉台文物保护单位7个点。^[1]

荣誉[edit]

2011年，本镇升为「福建省小城镇综合改革发展试点镇」；2014年，入选福建省首批「镇级小城市」培育试点乡镇。2016年，它列入「首批中国特色小镇」；2018年，入选「国家特色小城镇综合发展潜力百强」。^[1]
