村名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：明朝时村民沿浔溪畔建居，村址位于浔溪中部，故称大厅。[1]
中华人民共和国成立初，此地属涂寨区公所浔溪乡。1958年归涂寨人民公社，为大厅生产大队；1984年改设大厅村委会。[1]
