名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，村名来自驻地所在的新宅：该自然村靠近山边，地势比同社区另两个自然村高。[2]

社区辖新宅、常村、石龟头三个自然村，分为17个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

20世纪50年代，上村由曙光大队分出，设立上村大队。2003年实行村改居，成立上村社区居民委员会。[1][2]

社区面积1.3平方千米，常住人口1757人（2012年社区概况）。[1]

紫帽山[edit]

社区北面紫帽山麓有苏夫人姑庙，为泉州市文物保护单位，见常泰街道条目。[1]
