大布村位于夏茂镇东北部，距集镇约2.5公里。村名的由来：古时当地织布、打草席的人多，因此得名。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

古时属十六都。新中国成立后这里是夏茂区的大布乡，1961年归夏茂公社，设为大布大队；1984年改为大布村村民委员会，名称一直沿用。[2]

人口与土地[edit]

2017年政府页列出六个自然村：大布主村、坑头、罗坑、坡角、彭邦与坡下。16个村民小组里住有809户、3197人，姜、王、吴等姓较多。全村土地10108.95亩，林地7329亩，耕地2072.17亩。[1]
