后溪村位于莘口镇西南部的山区，海拔723米，与大田县、永安市相接，境内有普禅山。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

因村委会设在溪后，村名由此而来。[1]

明朝时此地属沙县管辖，永安设县后归永安县，三元设县后划归三元县的后溪保。[1]

1958年人民公社化时期设后溪大队，隶属莘口公社；1984年改设莘口办事处下的后溪村，1987年改为后溪村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

普禅山的主峰海拔1510米，是永安市与三元区的界山，也是三元区境内最高的山峰。1940年，原称普贤山的此山改称普禅山。山顶有石砌小庙供奉孙悟空，每年农历六月十二，当地会在此举行朝圣活动。[2]

1933年至1934年间，红军一支队伍驻扎在本村，在村中一户民房内设立临时医疗所，收治过数名红军伤员，即今红军医疗所旧址。[1]

经济[edit]

村中盛产毛竹与笋干，另出产野香菇、红菇和珍贵药材，村民自酿的糯米酒也是一项特色。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
