湖洋村位于社硎乡东部，离县城约25公里，东邻菜溪乡、钟山镇与书峰乡。村子在全乡十一个老区基点村之列，并获省级生态村称号。[1]

全村辖社宅、外枯、度后、田边、土垅五个自然村，共14个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明朝中期，郑氏先人到此肇基。聚落形似砚台，起初叫乌台，后谐音称乌头。博雅地名网另记明弘治十三年（1500年）有人到乌头肇基。[1]

中华人民共和国成立初期，厝洋与象溪的黄洋合并为一个乡，各取一字定名湖洋。后厝洋、黄洋分出，湖洋的名字沿用至今，外乡人仍多称之为乌头。[1]

1942年属乌头保。1950年归五区，1951年改属八区，1956年属社硎区；1957年成为社硎乡的湖洋乡，1958年10月并入社硎公社，成为其湖洋生产大队。1984年11月设湖洋村村民委员会，归社硎乡辖。[1]

地理环境[edit]

全村山地约10228亩，以马尾松、水杉、毛竹为主，并产枇杷、龙眼、荔枝、石榴等水果。耕地855亩，旱地340亩，种有甘薯、花生等。[1]

村内有库容20万立方米的岭头后水库。沈海复线高速与华社公路穿越全境。[1]

文化[edit]

湖洋郑氏祠堂位于外枯自然村，是古建筑，列为仙游县一般不可移动文物点；界线为北面5米、南面3米。[1][2]

2024年1月，湖洋村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」；2021年3月，被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
