平原社区在鲤南镇西段，属仙游县城西边的郊区，隔一条水与鲤城街道相对。它处在木兰溪与龙华溪的交汇处，地势平坦，因此得名。[1]

社区蔬菜种植历史悠久，近来正逐步发展大棚蔬菜和反季节蔬菜。2020年5月6日由村改为社区。[1]

地理与交通[edit]

社区东侧以木兰溪为界，与鲤城街道的木兰社区相接；西侧毗邻龙华镇的东方村；南侧借龙华溪同象运村相望；北侧也以木兰溪同鲤城街道的玉井村分界。三郊公路贯穿全村。[1]
