梅塘村在郊尾镇北部，与东湖、三埔、湖宅、后面四村相接。村子位于红土丘陵上，海拔38米，三郊省道穿村而过。[1]

宋代此地称顶店尾；明代因梅树成荫、四周环绕一片草塘，于是改名梅塘。[1]

2024年1月，村子获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时称梅塘保，属香田镇。中华人民共和国成立前归香南乡，1950年属第三区，1951年至1956年6月改隶第四区。1956年6月起，梅塘并入古店乡；1958年底另立梅塘大队。[1]

1984年12月，梅塘设村民委员会，归郊尾乡管辖；1985年3月起属郊尾镇。村下辖新岱、坟尾、东安、下寨、油坊等十个自然村。[1]

经济[edit]

村子以农业为主，产水稻、甘薯和甘蔗。过去村里缺水，常年受旱，20世纪50年代以后大力兴修农田水利，农业条件有所改善。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

梅塘谢氏民居位于东安自然村，属古建筑，列为仙游县一般不可移动文物点。[1]

梅塘岳帝庙位于顶街自然村，同属古建筑及县一般不可移动文物。[1]

村内还有继源庵，建筑形式较为特别。[2]
