石井村因村委会驻在石井自然村而得名。1999年，它被县委、县政府评为第七届文明村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

石井村在民国时期属平海区，随后归埭头区赤坡乡、平海乡管辖。解放后曾划入宅厝乡，1958至1960年隶属平海乡宅厝大队，此后自1960年起为平海公社石井大队。1984年12月设石井村委会，1994年改属平海镇，2002年划归秀屿区。[3]

文化[edit]

村里还获得过几项县区级的荣誉：2000年，县委授予村党组织「全县先进基层党组织」称号；2002年，村里获评「村民自治达标村」；2005年，区司法局表彰其为「人民调解工作先进集体」。[2]
