历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，这一带属莆田县崇福乡；明代改属莆田县第七区。[1]

据百度百科，2007年4月东埔镇属秀屿区，并归湄洲湾北岸开发区管委会管辖。[1] 秀屿区维基百科条目则记为2007年3月：湄洲湾北岸经济开发区经批准成为省级开发区，由其管委会管辖忠门、东埔、山亭三镇，行政区域仍属秀屿区。[2]

地理环境[edit]

东面与忠门镇、山亭镇毗邻；南、西、北三面则隔湄洲湾，与东庄镇、湄洲镇和泉州市泉港区相对。[1]
