后埔村位于西天尾镇，古称「圭浦」，民国年间称「下埔」，新中国成立后改称「后埔」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

古代称「圭浦」，因当时村落形似玉浦而得名；民国年间改为「下埔」；新中国成立后，因村前有田、村后有草埔，改称「后埔」。[1]

宋元时属武化乡，明清隶二区尊贤里，民国时分属延寿乡和下埔保。新中国成立后归四区霞西乡，后依次划入七区、十区。1957年组建霞西高级社，1958年设涵江公社后埔大队，1961年转入西天尾公社。1984年改为乡下的后埔村，1986年12月升为镇下的后埔村，2002年起为荔城区西天尾镇后埔村。[1]

2021年2月，本村入选「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
