西林村位于梧塘镇最东部，与镇址相距约5公里。东面与江口镇刘庄村接壤，南面与涵江区沁东村相邻，西面与东南村相接，北面与九峰村隔着田野相望。全村地处平缓的丘陵地带，是莆田北洋平原边缘的农村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

西林村由后林与西垞两个自然村合并而成，取两个村名中的“西”“林”二字命名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

西林一带古时属唐安乡延寿里。新中国成立后先归后东乡，之后经历江东乡和囊山乡的管辖（1951年起属江东乡，1954年改属囊山乡），1961年成为东南大队的一部分。1984年，它成为梧塘乡西林村委会，1985年3月起由梧塘镇管辖；2002年以后，村委会属涵江区梧塘镇。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

后林自然村的西林阜成宫为清代古建筑，清光绪五年（1879年）重建，2020年12月列为「涵江区第九批文物保护单位」。[1]

西垞自然村有西林武当宫，清光绪戊子年（1888年）重建，房屋属清代古建筑，同样在2020年12月被列入「涵江区第九批文物保护单位」。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年12月，西林村被福建省爱国卫生运动委员会命名为「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
