东海镇是福建省莆田市城厢区下辖的镇，位于城厢区南部，面向湄洲湾。镇域南面临湄洲湾内海，与秀屿港隔海相望；东接灵川镇，西与仙游县枫亭镇为界，北面与华亭镇接壤。全镇面积45.86平方千米，2019年末户籍人口58486人。镇政府驻海头村。[1][7]

北部靠近壶公山支脉，南部濒海，福泉高速公路与笏枫公路横穿全镇，交通便利。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代，这片地方在兴化府的辖境内，划归灵川里。[2]

1999年11月设镇，镇址在海头村，是从灵川镇分出的，初属莆田县，之后由莆田市湄洲湾北岸管委会管理。镇名取自原镇址所在的东海村。[1][2]

2002年5月起，东海镇改属城厢区。[1][2]

经济[edit]

2021年10月和2022年10月，东海镇先后两次列入阿里研究院公布的淘宝镇名单。[2]

文化[edit]

2021年3月，东海镇被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。2022年12月，东海镇获评「2022年福建省卫生乡镇」，由福建省爱国卫生运动委员会命名。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

东沙村沟东自然村有东沙端明殿（金沙宫），始建于南宋乾道八年（1172年），历代屡有维修，近代重修。东沙村另有蔡襄纪念馆（端明殿），建成于1982年，为「县级重点文物保护单位」。[4]

东沙村有东沙抗捐暴动旧址。西厝村东洋自然村有莆田党团联席会议会址，西厝村笏枫公路旁有蔡先镳烈士墓。[3]

坪洋村的石梯寺始建于唐僖宗乾符四年（877年），后曾荒废，清末重建，近代重修。[3][5]

著名人物[edit]

蔡先镳（1912—1945）又名蔡英，小名松峰，1912年出生于西厝村（旧属灵川镇）的一户农家。他先后在中共莆田中心县委任委员，并任常太根据地一支游击队的分队长。1945年4月遇害，新中国成立后被追认为革命烈士。[6]
