西湖村位于华亭镇西部，处在华油路中段，交通便利。[1]

村名的由来与地质变化后形成的湖泊有关。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：村西面原有一座桥，名西桥，后因地质变化出现一个湖，遂改名西湖。[1]

始建于清朝时期。民国时期此地属莆田县华亭乡西湖保；1949年属十五区游亭乡；1955年归西湖高级公社；1956年改隶重新乡。[1]

1958年编入莆田县华亭人民公社，设西湖生产大队；1961年划入华亭公社西湖大队；1968年设革命领导小组；1980年以西湖生产大队的名义隶属华亭人民公社。[1]

1984年12月由队改村，归莆田县华亭乡西湖村委会；1986年改隶莆田县华亭镇；2002年起属莆田市城厢区华亭镇西湖村委会。[2]

经济[edit]

全村以干鲜龙眼为主要经济产业。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村庄获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2022年10月，被认定为「2022年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
