湖头村位于华亭镇境内，南依木兰溪畔，北临濑榜公路，莆永高速公路的一个出口位于村内。[1]

村名的由来与木兰溪弯曲处曾经形成的一大湖有关。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村庄靠近木兰溪北侧，溪水在此拐弯，积成一片大湖，湖中有一块天然巨石。后来地质变迁，湖水消退，巨石仍留在溪中，村名由此而来。[1]

清代以前此地为莆田县华新乡，1957年属华星乡，此后于1972年划入华亭公社，设湖头大队。[1]

1984年12月改设华亭乡湖头村委会，1985年3月易名为华亭镇湖头村委会，2002年起划入城厢区华亭镇。[1]

经济[edit]

村内有民营企业，经营建材贸易、石材加工与服务业等。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年9月、2021年10月与2022年10月，村庄三次列入「淘宝村」名单。[1]

2020年11月，村庄被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
