平南社区隶属福建省福清市高山镇，位于镇中心区，社区所在地势较高，依万底山而建。社区名「平南」取自旧地名，2019年改为现名。[1]

地名由来[edit]

社区名取自高山镇旧属崇德乡平南里五九都中的「平南」二字。古地名「平南」原为村名，因与高山村重名，才改用此名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

居委会的前身是80年代初由高山居民大队改设的高山居委会，2002年改称高山社区居民委员会。[1]

此名沿用到2019年12月31日，经福清市政府批准，社区改称平南社区。[1]

2023年福清市的镇街行政区划一览表仍将其列为居委会，与「社区」之称并存。[2]
