下湖村是福建省福州市罗源县中房镇下辖的行政村，位于罗源县北部，离镇中心约18公里。村中畲汉两族聚居，下辖6个自然村。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村中早先有上湖、下湖两处湖泊，后来湖面被填平建房，村落就建在下湖原先的位置上，村名由此而来。[1]

位置与自然环境[edit]

下湖村距罗源城关约20公里，平均海拔360米。东邻王沙村，西靠宝圣峰，北接叠石村，南与洪洋乡相交。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明至清末，村地属丰下里；民国时期分属五区、二区和河洋乡。1950年设下湖乡，隶属二区。[1]

1958年撤区设社，改设下湖大队，隶属中房公社；1961年复设区，改称中房区下湖公社，1965年又并入中房公社。1984年改大队为村委会，隶属中房乡。[1]

历史人文[edit]

抗日战争和解放时期，村中畲汉两族的一批青年投身革命，曾成立苏维埃政府，并设立罗源县北区工委。村里至今仍是老区基点村。[1]

村中的畲族自清代定居于此，至今保留着民族语言、凤凰装服饰和竹杆舞，每年三月三、祭祖和喜庆之日，村民穿着凤凰装对歌庆祝。[2]

古迹[edit]

村中有清代古民居胡秉仁故居，屋内有三雕装饰，并有三进大厅。据博雅地名网，胡秉仁是清代的举人。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村被评为2021年福建省卫生村；2024年1月，村入选2023年度福建省卫生村名单。2023年12月，村被认定为2023年度福建省「一村一品」专业村，主产水蜜桃。2020年6月，村在罗源县第四轮平安村（社区）评定中入选「平安村（社区）」，评定年度为2019年。[1]
