观塘村是东源县仙塘镇下辖的行政村，村名先后经历了灌塘、干塘两个旧称。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历是：建国前此地称灌塘，因有一口用于灌溉的大塘；塘水干涸后改称干塘。客家话中“干”与“观”音近，遂又定名观塘。[1]
1958年此地称观塘大队，1983年改设观塘乡，1987年改为观塘管理区；1999年，东源县政府批准设立村委会。[1]
2021年12月，村获「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。[1]
