金厢社区是陆丰市金厢镇政府驻地所在的社区，也是镇的中心区。名称来自金厢圩，博雅地名网称圩后山上的大石形似厢，故名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
圩落自1686年起由各地来的商人聚居而成。[1]1972年隶金厢公社，1978年为金厢大队，1983年改乡，1987年称居委会，1994年短暂改作管理区，1999年复称居委会，2002年起为社区居委会。[1]
2021年12月，社区获广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
