关于村名，博雅地名网的说法是：很久以前有杜姓人在此居住，村在山坑边，故名。[1]
建置方面：新中国成立之初为杜坑乡，1958年人民公社化时设杜坑大队，1983年复为乡政府，1989年改称管理区，1999年起为杜坑村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
