新屋村是龙潭镇下辖的行政村，村名来自“新屋围”，传说早年有十八个姓氏的先人来此定居并合建祠堂。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，早年林、廖、谭、李、许等十八个姓氏的先人陆续迁到这里，结为兄弟，合建一座大祠堂，又在祠堂周围盖房居住，这片地方就叫新屋围；村委会驻地在新屋，村名由此而来。1952年称中联乡，1959年至1983年期间叫新尾大队，从1984年3月起名为新屋乡，1989年10月改作新屋管理区，到1999年4月才用上现名。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，新屋村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
