上郭村是化州市河西街道的行政村，在西堤路河西段，因位于旧化州城廓的上首而名“上郭”；辖区内的上岭村有一处宋代窑址遗存。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历是：它在化州城廓的上首，故称上郭，村民委员会又因驻地在上郭而得名。[1]上郭自1937年起隶属附城镇，直到新中国成立初期；1953年归环城乡，1958年成了环城公社的上郭大队。[1]1983年设上郭乡，1987年划入东山镇并成立村民委员会。[1]化州建市的1994年，上郭离开东山镇，改由河西区管理委员会管辖，1999年起仍称村民委员会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
全村分3个村民小组，登记在册326户、1737人；总面积838.9亩，耕地217.6亩，主要种蔬菜。[1]村里建了占地150平方米的四层办公楼，其中三层出租以增加村收入，村民集资修成2公里长、12米宽的水泥路。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
上岭宋窑器物堆积层遗址位于上岭村，属古遗址，年代自北宋晚期延续至南宋，被列入「化州市第四批县级文物保护单位」。[1]
