历史沿革[edit]
此地1952年属梅茂县第二区（覃巴）王村港乡新梅行政村，到1957年称新梅小乡，隶属吴川县覃巴区的王村港乡，1958年成为覃巴公社的新梅大队，1972年转入覃寮大队。1979年王村港渔业公社成立，原王村港大队改称王村港乡；1999年起称村委会，至今未变[2]。
地理与经济[edit]
村委会总人口2518人、502户，面积4平方公里，耕地495多亩[1][2]。境内海岸线长3公里，有滩涂和渔港，近海礁石成群；一条国防公路自325国道通往村内[1]。村民以海洋捕捞为主，兼营农业，属半渔半农地区，近年在滩涂沿岸开发虾塘，在浅海发展养殖；种植水稻、番薯、木薯、果蔗和水果[1]。6条自然村中，1条已搬往集镇建房居住，其余5条中3条铺好了水泥路，建有文化室、篮球场和公厕[1]。
