方兴社区在广东省湛江市霞山区，归新兴街道管辖，属主城区；社名取自辖区里的方兴村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1960年，湛江地区行署修建高州水库，高州、信宜两地的水库移民迁到这里安置，形成方兴村，最初由工农街道办事处的第一居委会管辖，1960年至1973年同属霞山区工农街道。1987年3月，改由新兴街道办事处管辖，名称改为方兴居委会。2002年8月又改称方兴社区居委会，至今归新兴街道。[1]
2019年9月，该社区名列广东省2018年“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位。[1]
