大南是汕头市潮阳区城南街道的社区，在街道城乡结合部。村在县城以南、濒临练江，村中池塘多，原名大南塘，简称大南。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村创于明洪武年间，许、翁、李、姚等姓先后来此定居（该站原文写作“洪武四年（1342）”，两者不合，此处不取具体年份）。到1949年，全村已是20多个姓氏杂居、近4000人的大村，名大南塘村；1988年设管理区，1999年设居委会。[1]
社区在2019年9月进入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单，2021年12月获2021年广东省卫生村称号。[1]
