历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，东澳湾自东向西深入岛内约1500米，形成一处可泊船的凹口，粤语里“凹”与“澳”读音相近，村因此得名。[1]1987年以前称东澳大队，之后改设东澳村委会，沿用至今。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]
东澳岛面积约4.73平方千米，岛形似“工”字，东澳湾与南沙湾分居东西两侧。[3]岛上的东澳铳城是雍正七年（1729年）筑成的石砌海防工事，先于1987年定为市级文物保护单位，2010年再升为省级。[4]南沙湾沙滩长约1500米，有“钻石沙滩”之称。[5]
荣誉方面，2019年9月被列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位名单」；2023年11月入选「广东百千万工程首批典型县镇村」；2024年4月入选「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村创建名单」。[1]
