共和社区在沙井街道西北角，北临茅洲河，西邻东宝河（对岸为东莞市长安），面积约2.1平方公里。[1]
地名与沿革[edit]
社区名取「共同发展、和谐进步」之意。1941年至1951年这里叫作共和小组，由水上人家聚居而成，归沙井乡；1951年成立共和村；1983年并入步涌乡；2004年7月31日城市化后改设社区居民委员会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
介绍所载，社区有户籍居民约260户、约760人，常住人口5万多人，建筑以工商业用房为主，多在10层以下。2022年3月名列首批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区。[1]
