历史沿革[edit]
荔湾一带原属南山村。前海路以西曾是村民养鱼的水面，以东是荔枝林和农田。[1]1990年代初起，前海路以西开始填海，如今的南山热电公司、协孚油库、南油保税区、鲤鱼门等，都建在填海造出的土地上。[1]2001年10月设立荔湾社区居委会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
社区属混合型，有2所中学、3所幼儿园、24个住宅区、4个工业区，登记企业385家；中大型企业包括青青世界、协孚油库、南山热电等。[1]
