此地原属万顷沙镇，是镇的中心地带；2009年划入珠江街道，新兴社区居民委员会随之成立。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，社区列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单；2021年11月获「广州市2021年绿色社区」认定。[1]
