历史沿革[edit]
社区于2005年由岗园居委会与南石西居委会合并成立。2020年社区范围调整，绿地海玥的两个楼盘划入星汇湾社区。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
南石头监狱遗址与海港检疫所旧址为广州市第九批市级文物保护单位。[1][2]清代在此设镇南炮台，属大黄滘炮台群；1913年前后炮台旧址改建为监狱，称惩戒场，1927年后改称惩教场，因邻近南石头村，俗称南石头监狱。[3]2020年12月起，广州市文物考古研究院在南石路28号地块勘探发掘，发掘面积5000平方米，出土铁炮、子弹壳、铁镣、玻璃试剂瓶等103件（套）遗物；其中的铁炮铸于道光二十三年（1843年）。[3]新快报2026年报道称，遗址的「井」字形牢房基址保存较好，有132间监仓，已有436位在此被关押的革命志士确认身份。[4]
1941年底香港沦陷后，日军把大量被遣返的香港居民截留在此，将原惩教场用作难民收容所。粤海关海港检疫所旧址在南石西一带，2002年登记为广州市文物保护单位，与侵华日军华南防疫给水部的活动有关。[5][4]1995年，南箕路北段建起粤港难民纪念碑。[4]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，棣园社区名列「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2024年11月，入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」。[1]
