悲姓以先祖的名字为氏，鲁国人孺悲是这一姓氏的得姓始祖。[1]据《明伦汇编·氏族典》所载，悲氏为孺悲的后代，而孺悲是春秋时鲁哀公的臣子，鲁哀公曾派他前往孔子处学习礼仪，后人因此以他的名字为姓。[1]《姓氏考略》引《姓谱》也记有孺悲之后为悲氏一说，并称其后人「或以祖辈名字为氏」。[3]
迁徙与分布[edit]
悲姓自古传衍至今，人口很少。《山西人口姓氏大全》收录了这一姓氏。[3]现今山西的临汾、介休和吕梁地区有悲姓人家居住，台湾与北京等地也见有此姓。[3]在现行的姓氏排行里，悲姓没有进入常见姓氏之列。[3]
