华石镇位于广东省云浮市罗定市东北部，处在罗定红盆东部，东邻苹塘镇，南接围底镇，镇政府驻华石圩。[1][2]

境内有深岑、罗阳、云罗、江罗四条高速公路交汇，并设莫村互通。[1]

地理环境[edit]

华石镇地处罗定红盆东部的低丘陵地带，地势平整。[1]

镇内公路与国道324线相接。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

华石之名原是圩名。圩路旁一棵大榕树下有几块石头，过往行人坐久了便磨得光滑，此处于是称为滑石，圩也以滑石为名；后来写作华石，取华美的石头之意。[2]

自973年（北宋开宝六年）起，直到1576年（明万历四年）为止，这一带属泷水县。明万历五年以后归罗定州管辖，民国时期则是罗定县第六区的一部分。1950年改隶罗定县第二区，即苹塘区；1953年5月调入第十区，也就是围底区；1956年11月又并入苹塘区。[2]

1958年公社化之后归围底公社，1961年6月分出，另设华石公社。1983年公社改为华石区；1986年11月区改为乡；1989年2月乡改为华石镇。[2]

经济[edit]

工业以建材业为主，属产粮区之一，同时出产水果、蔬菜、禽畜、淡水鱼和黄烟。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

振卿陈公祠位于寨脚村岗底然村，为清代建筑，光绪九年癸未（1883年）重修。2011年2月14日，该祠被列入罗定市第四批文物保护单位。[3]

莫村莫氏宗祠位于莫村自然村，年代属清，被列为「第五批罗定市（县）级文物保护单位」。[4]

文化[edit]

2024年3月，华石镇被命名为「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」。[2]
