新光村位于罗定市罗平镇。1976年，因罗光水库建设，库区受影响的部分村民迁入此地落户，村名取自原住地名中的一个字，以作纪念。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1976年，按照罗定县政府的罗光水库迁安安排，库区受影响的部分村民由分界公社迁入罗平公社一个生产大队，同年7月起陆续落户。[2]

1983年划归罗定县罗平区的一个乡；1986年11月撤乡后设立村民委员会，1989年5月改为管理区，1993年获评革命老区。[2]

1998年9月复设村民委员会，隶属罗定市罗平镇，沿用至今。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2026年1月，村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]
